Pre-K Math

I am super proud of my Pre-K students. They have learned how to add doubles.  I have used Youtubedoubles for PreK   This link is a fun one too Youtube Mr.R.adding doubles. It is very catchy  that my dual language students are having fun and learning in a second language.
Here is a fun idea I picked up from Pinterest and made it my own.  You can do this  with unused  or recycled Easter Eggs. I used them for  adding doubles and other simple addition problems.   I used different colors as suggested from one of my colleagues. This is so students wouldn't match them by color. This made it more challenging.

This is another enriching activity. My campus bought these rubbing plates.  I decided  to use them as an extension activity after they are done with their assignments in their centers. It is fun and  reinforces what they learned.  The rubbing Plates are from LakeshoreNumbers&CountingMathrubbing plates

Weather Unit

My  dual language students are learning about weather and seasons. Last week, we started learning about weather. Our Pre-k curriculum is Big Day and we are provided with books to read. We read  Y hoy ¿quĂ© tiempo hara? What will the weather be like?  By Paul Rogers.  A book with great content and illustrations  that allows the young readers eyes see different  types of weather throughout the world.  I was able to teach vocabulary and after reading we did shared writing that was assigned to the Science  journal center. Yesterday we closed the lesson by flying a wind sock. The wind sock was made out of  drawing paper in which students drew and labeled  a weather scene in their lives. Finally, they attached tissue paper and string( I helped with the string). We had a picnic  and then enjoyed a beautiful sunny and windy day with our wind socks. Books are available in Amazon  amazon.com ¿Y hoy que-tiempo hara?

Science Fair

This year I am assigned to teach Pre-k. I love it but when it came to work with my class on the science fair project, I  was a little bit lost. Then I  remembered one of my former colleagues did a  succesful button collection with her class.   My class and I talked about it and a note was sent to the parents to help my little ones collect buttons. We started collecting buttons. The way we displayed it was based on what we were learning at the moment. All around me. We won 3rd place district wide.
