Weather and Seasons Activities , El clima y las estaciones del año

It was fun  using ideas from Pinterest and making them my own. From painting to predicting the weather my students learned  and had fun. Here are some  samples.

Weather Unit

My  dual language students are learning about weather and seasons. Last week, we started learning about weather. Our Pre-k curriculum is Big Day and we are provided with books to read. We read  Y hoy ¿qué tiempo hara? What will the weather be like?  By Paul Rogers.  A book with great content and illustrations  that allows the young readers eyes see different  types of weather throughout the world.  I was able to teach vocabulary and after reading we did shared writing that was assigned to the Science  journal center. Yesterday we closed the lesson by flying a wind sock. The wind sock was made out of  drawing paper in which students drew and labeled  a weather scene in their lives. Finally, they attached tissue paper and string( I helped with the string). We had a picnic  and then enjoyed a beautiful sunny and windy day with our wind socks. Books are available in Amazon  amazon.com ¿Y hoy que-tiempo hara?

Science Fair

This year I am assigned to teach Pre-k. I love it but when it came to work with my class on the science fair project, I  was a little bit lost. Then I  remembered one of my former colleagues did a  succesful button collection with her class.   My class and I talked about it and a note was sent to the parents to help my little ones collect buttons. We started collecting buttons. The way we displayed it was based on what we were learning at the moment. All around me. We won 3rd place district wide.

Science Word Bank Tissue Box Zebra print

I used an empty tissue box to save past units vocabulary words so my students can use them during morning journal time.   To make it look fab I  used zebra print locker tape I bought on sale to match my classroom.
